The original ladder pattern reclining seats were re-upholstered in the original navy colour way during the extensive restoration of 1998-2001. The door cards and full carpet set were also replaced in the same matching navy colour way. The original dashboard and facia are all in exceptional order and complimented with a leather rim Motalita steering wheel. All original specification Smiths clocks and gauges work perfectly with crystal clear glass and perfect chrome rings, all switches, electrics and heater work as they were intended. Correct MG rubber floor mats protect the unmarked luxury carpet set.
A full documented restoration was carried out using a British Heritage Bodyshell in 1998 by MGOC Workshops and painted in the original colour of Damask Red (Code BLVC 99). The paint finish and bodywork are still outstanding today with no rust or blemishes, factory panel fit, excellent shut lines and gaps. The underside is solid throughout and professionally undersealed.
All brightwork has been replaced with new old stock or quality reproduction items, the original screen frame is in perfect order, the original factory fit Triplex Toughened glass is perfect and clear all round. The jet black mohair hood is as new and unmarked, all screens are very clear, full and half hood tonneau covers are also included.
The painted wire wheels and chrome spinners are in fantastic blemish free order. Sitting on all matching Uniroyal 155/80 R13 radial tyres which have plenty of tread remaining.
The original brake system has been fully overhauled, new brake lines, refurbished and painted calipers, new front discs etc. needless to say the braking power is excellent. Steering is precise and responsive, handling superb.
The original 1275cc BMC A-Series engine is superb having been upgraded to a stage II unleaded unit along with K&N air filters, performance distributor, Lumenition ignition, LCB exhaust manifold and full stainless steel exhaust.
Needless to say she is brisk on the roads with lively performance, responds superbly, pulls strong in every gear, starts easily hot or cold, perfect oil pressure and idles faultlessly, the gearbox and clutch are light and precise... With such nimble handling these Midget's are great fun to drive..
