New tufted cream carpets with contrasting navy piping have been fitted throughout, all completed in 2015 and unmarked. The original factory fit spoke steering wheel with horn-ring is in outstanding condition as is the wood dash facia. All original Jaeger clocks and gauges work perfectly and have crystal clear glass. All switches work as they should as does the heater... A simply stunning interior.
The original body shell was subject to a complete full bare metal restoration in 2015. The paint finish and bodywork are still outstanding today with factory panel fit, perfect shut lines and gaps. A full 600+ photographic log of the restoration is included in the history file detailing the attention to detail that that went into the preparation of this stunning Alpine before the final paint being applied. The underside is fully painted and detailed throughout.
All bright work had either been replaced or replated, a new navy vinyl hood fitted 2016. The original factory hard top with very clear perspex rear window has been fully restored including new headlining.
The original steel wheels have been replaced with Compomotive Motorsport Minilite style wheels and are unmarked. Sitting on excellent 187/70 R13 rear tyres and 175/70 R13 front.
During the extensive restoration the Girling servo assisted brakes were all renewed with new front discs, brake calipers, rear drums, and brake lines needless to say the braking power is excellent. Steering is precise and responsive, handling superb courtesy of all new suspension.
The original specification 1592cc 4-cylinder, overhead valve, in line engine with slotted alloy pistons and aluminium head, has been fully rebuilt. Originally fitted with two Stromberg 36 carburettors, these have been changed to the more reliable and better performing single Weber 32/36 DGV with progressive two stage throttle opening. Needless to say she responds superbly, pulls strong in every gear, perfect oil pressure and idles faultlessly. Overdrive in 3rd and 4th gears which operates in and out very smoothly, the gearbox and clutch are light and precise and she sounds glorious through the full stainless steel exhaust... Magical
This Series II Alpine was originally 1 of the 241 cars that left the Armstrong Siddeley Coventry production line week ending 12th January 1962 shortly before production was moved to another Rootes factory, colour Lake Blue and destined for North America. The car remained in California until it was returned back to the UK in 2003 in part restored state being purchased from Motoring Investments, San Diego, Californina complete with its original registration plates and State of California Certificate of Title.
The history file is packed with hundreds of invoices, receipts, original December 1960 service data sheets and all filed by year plus 600+ detailed images of the car arriving back to the UK in May 2003 and subsequent bare shell restoration carried out over a fourteen year period from 2003 to 2017. This file documents the incredible passion and attention to detail that has gone into restoring this beautiful Series II Alpine.

The Sunbeam Alpine Series 1 sports car was replaced at the October 1960 Motor Show, following a production run of only 12 months in which 11,904 units were built, by the Series 2 model, which would remain in production until February 1963 with a total of 19,956 cars produced. The Series 2 received some minor alterations to the rear suspension, which involved an increase in the width of the leaf springs, together with larger dampers. However, some of the features of the Series 1 were retained, such as vinyl seats, a padded dashboard, and adjustable panels, as were the optional extras of wire wheels, an aluminium hardtop, a fitted occasional rear seat, and overdrive. Furthermore, in addition, the Series 2 now offered an increase in engine capacity from 1494 to 1592cc.
