Interior & Equipment
The interior of this Beetle has been fully restored to the highest standards which includes; Porsche cream leather seats piped in black with matching bespoke ribbed door cards, sun visors and a new contrasting black carpet set. The factory fit Bakelite steering wheel with Wolfsburg crest horn pad is in fantastic order as are all the original VW controls and gauges which work perfectly as they were intended. Original features such as the dashboard ashtray, gear shift diagram and tyre pressure chart on the glovebox lid are lovely to see. The front luggage area houses the spare wheel sitting in a spotless front compartment. The original factory chassis plate still in place as is the one on top of the unmarked dash. The convertible headlining is all new, other extras include; Premium Kenwood 6 speaker sound system and matching tonneau cover... A clean, sharp interior that really suits this stunning Karmann.
Exterior
The Karmann was subject to a body off restoration in 2007 and is still in exceptional order. All original chrome and decals are beautifully presented. The roof is completely as new and in first class order throughout, the fit is perfect and surprisingly very quiet when travelling at speed.
As you can see from the pictures the panels and panel fit are excellent, the all original VW glass and opening quarter lights are in perfect order as are all lights. The underside of the car has been professionally waxoyled. Complimented with new alluminium trimmed running boards this is a stunning looking Bug...
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
Filling the arches are set of immaculate 8 spoke 15-Inch 5.5J black diamond cut alloy wheels with original VW centre caps, shod with all matching new Maxis Victra 165/80 R15 tyres.
As part of the restoration work the brake system was fully overhauled, dual circuit brake system with drums at the rear and discs up front, the stopping power is very good with a positive feel to the pedal.
Engine & Transmission
The spotlessly clean engine bay with an focus on originality houses the 1598cc 4-cylinder Twin Port Air-Cooled rear mounted Boxer engine. Needless to say she runs perfectly with no issues having been fully rebuilt during the restoration of 2007 and has only covered 11700 miles since. Starts from hot or cold easily, the clutch is light and progressive in operation, the 4-speed fully synchronized gearbox is positive and precise, full major service and ready to go... A joy to drive and what an unmistakable sound track.
Summary
This desirable and rare original UK RHD 1972 model year Beetle Karmann Cabriolet spent much of its life outside of the UK and was re imported October 2002. In the last 18 years it's been cherished by only 2 former keepers who always kept the car garaged.
The detailed history file contains many past MOT,s, CD picture file, receipts and invoices for parts and work carried out, owners handbooks from the early 70's and spare keys. Since restoration the beetle has covered a little over 11700 miles.
