Stunning... The sumptuous, optional navy full leather trim is in fantastic order; the seat bolsters are plump and show no signs of bagging or adverse wear. The leather dash and centre console, black factory steering wheel with white contrast stitching, and pleated door cards all present in perfect order.
The original factory carpets are unmarked and in fantastic condition throughout.

The classic lines of the Giugiaro styled body... Finished in gorgeous Lotus exhibition and motorshow exclusive pearl white (Code P02) paintwork, all external trim and decals, original Cibie headlights and Factory Triplex glass are in excellent order. The 2 position tilt and removable glass Targa top operates perfectly and can be stowed away in the boot. The pop up headlights sit perfectly straight and are strong and positive in operation. Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
WHEELS - All original, immaculate and unique colour-coded pearl white (Code P02) BBS cross-spoke alloys, fitted with brand new, club recommended Nankang Econex NA-1 tyres, 225/60 15 rear and 195/60 15 front.
BRAKES - Original dual-circuit hydraulic braking system with ventilated front discs.
Engine & Transmission
The engine bay houses the factory original mid-mounted Lotus 2.2 litre type 910 16-valve DOHC engine. Single Garrett T3 Turbocharger, with 2 twin-choke Dellorto carburettors, high intensity electronic ignition and mated to a 5-speed all synchromesh transaxle gearbox.
Producing 210bhp at 6000-6500rpm, 200 lb-ft torque at 4000-4500гpm, 152mph maximum speed, 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds.
The twin Dellorto's have just been expertly rebuilt and set up on a rolling road at Butlin & Sons Classic Cars, Swadlincote, Derbyshire. Short and long road tests were carried out to ensure the car performed faultlessly. A full major service and cambelt change were completed 2nd April 2026.
On the road she cannot fail to impress. The 5-speed gearbox selects and shift with ease, the clutch light and progressive, starts eagerly whether hot or cold, and no adverse engine rattles or noises... Perfect
Summary
Registered new on 11th March 1985. This Lotus Esprit Turbo is the first of just 2 cars produced in 1985 in the Lotus exclusive exhibition custom paint colour Pearl White paint (Code P02). We understand this highly exclusive colour was used exclusively for motor shows and promoting the Lotus flagship model of the time. The second car of exactly the same colour/trim/options was ex-factory 24th April 1985. A total of just 6 cars were made in this colour and trim combination.
Only 4 previous owners. The last 2 keepers were friends and have owned the car between them for the last 21 years. Mr Michael Smith, the previous owner, looked for the rarest, lowest mileage Lotus Esprit Turbo he could find and purchased this car having had a distributor fire with the view of repairing it to an exceptional standard.
The HPi reports states that back in July 2004, 22 years ago, the car was a Category D insurance loss, damaged but repairable; insurer decided not to repair.
The damage was quite light and repairs were quite simple as there were minimal mechanical and electrical damage, body-wise just the tailgate was replaced. Mr Smith knew he could make this car his dream car, with very low recorded mileage and rarity being a highly exclusive Lotus exhibition model, he couldn't resist bringing it back to its former glory and to the show standard car you see today.
Mr Smith cherished the car for the next 11 years before selling it for personal reasons to his good friend in April 2016, who still owns it today.
MOT until 29th September 2027, a major service including a cambelt change was completed 2nd April 2026, a full rolling road set up and carburettor rebuild with extensive road testing completed 28th September 2026.
This is a unique show standard example in every way of the mighty Lotus Esprit Turbo Poster Car and will appeal to both collectors and enthusiasts, now ready to enjoy and show. Cherished number B18 CPB is included in the sale.
