Finished in Lotus Carnival Red (Code L05) with a contrasting metallic silver roof, the paintwork is incredible throughout having been fully restored back to fibreglass a little over 5 years ago, displaying perfect panel fit and gaps. All brightwork has been refinished at a cost of circa £2500 at the same time, original Triplex glass, uprated halogen headlight conversion and perfect Lucas driving lamps with covers.
The pop up headlights sit perfectly straight and are strong and positive in operation.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
WHEELS - Fitted with fully restored Brand Lotus 10 spoke alloy wheels with diamond cut spokes and three-eared centre lock knock-off wheel spinners, with all matching excellent Bridgestone B330 EVO 165/80 R13 tyres.
BRAKES - The Girling all-disc servo assisted brake system has been completely overhauled with new discs, pads, master and slave cylinders and servo. The brakes offer a progressive feel at all speeds, positive and reassuring.

THE LOTUS TWIN-CAM ENGINE...
Powered by the 1558cc Ford-based Lotus Twin-Cam Big Valve inline 4-cylinder engine, producing 126 bhp at 6,500 rpm, 113 lb-ft torque at 5,500 rpm and fitted with twin Dellorto DHLA 40 carburettors.
On the road she cannot not fail to impress, the clutch is light in operation, the close-ratio 4 speed gearbox offers slick and precise gear selection, starts hot or cold with ease. The Elan's crisp exhaust note via the stainless steel exhaust or the sweet Dellorto throat music... Simply Magical

Registered new on 1st October 1972 and having had only 5 previous long term keepers.
In excess of £28,000 has been lavished on bodywork, engine rebuild and interior during it's two year restoration and completed in the summer of 2020. A further £15,000 has been spent with noted P&K Thornton Restorations Limited Lambley, Nottinghamshire, over the past 3 years by its current owner. Introduced in 1962, the Lotus Elan was a stylish two-seat roadster powered by a 1500cc engine and four-speed gearbox. Building on the success of the Elite, Lotus introduced the Elan Plus 2 in 1967 (code-named M20) to meet the needs of families requiring a more practical car. With a body 30cm longer and 18cm wider, it offered greater space and two small rear seats, while retaining the distinctive styling and proportions of the Lotus marque.
1971 saw the introduction of the Elan +2S 130, which featured a 126bhp Big-Valve Twin Cam engine, enhanced luxury fittings including a leather-rimmed steering wheel, burr walnut and electric windows.
