Interior & Equipment
The original interior is remarkable, as you would expect from such a low mileage example. Snug seats sculptured to provide superb support with attractive Daytona cloth can only be described as new, there incredible front and rear with no signs of adverse wear or bagging anywhere and are beautifully clean and bright. The original colour-keyed velour carpet is spotless and free from wear. The small-diameter steering wheel is as new, all switchgear, interior lighting, three-speed heater, perforated grey headlining, front and rear seatbelts, and unmarked dashboard again are all as new as they left the factory back in August 1988. The centre header mounted digital clock works perfectly with a crystal clear LCD display and the original Ford factory fit stereo radio/cassette operates perfectly as does the joystick speaker control. The speedo and tachometer operate perfectly. Fabric trim door cards are unmarked and still remain as per factory fit. The perfectly straight rear parcel shelf again still looking as new with correct rubber hangers. The boot area is complete with courtesy light and unmarked removable boot floor carpet. Amazing…
Exterior
This stunning XR is finished in Ford Rosso Red, (Code R5), which has a mirror like uniformed finish and represents a car stored in a heated showroom since 2000. The all-original factory panels are straight with uniform gaps as you would expect and all trim sections and decals are correct and original. The rear rubber rear spoiler is unmarked and as new. The Ford Security System window etching is evident on all glass including the sunroof. Marmion Ford Main Dealer number plates remain fitted front and rear, as does the dealer sticker in the rear window, all original as per the day it left the showroom. Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
The 5 optional extra double spoke dog leg alloy wheels 14" X 6" are all original not refurbished along with original Ford wheel weights and original all matching excellent 185/60HR 14 Goodyear tyres. The spare is brand new and has never been fitted to the car it looks as if it has never been removed from the boot. The servo assisted brakes with ventilated front and rear discs operate perfectly with a very positive pedal feel. Unmarked original Ford factory fit mud flaps enhance the looks of this 80's icon.
Engine & Transmission
The 1.6 OHC (CVH) Fuel injected engine is crisp and free-revving just as Ford intended for this 'hot hatch'. Producing a lively 105bhp at 6000rpm along with a 0-60 time of 9.6 seconds this is a real fun car to drive and returns a healthy 45.6 mpg as detailed in the official Ford Sales Brochure. The engine is super quiet, starts instantly hot or cold, no smoke or rattles, pulls strong flawlessly through every gear. The light clutch and 5-speed gearbox operate perfectly as you would expect having only covered a mere 24000 miles.

Registered new on the 10th August 1988 by Ford Main Dealer Marmion Ford, Gungate, Tamworth and sold to Mr Ray Harvey who cherished the car for the next 28 years, the original Ford Extra Cover Warranty, Vehicle Sales invoice and Finance Agreement dated 1st August 1988 remain in the file, cost new £10658.74
MOTs from 1992 to 2000 are in the history file at this point the car read 24517 miles the car was then kept in dry heated storage and unused until November 2016 when it was MOT’d again on 9th November 2016 at 24897 miles. During November 2016 this cherished XR3 was subject to full recommissioning, nothing was missed everything was checked or replaced from front to back, the history file details all the work and parts used to the present day.
