Very rare Mini John Cooper LE S Works with large body-coloured extended wheel arches, twin driving lamps and twin upswept chrome exhaust system.
Finished in stunning Brooklands Racing Green with an Old English White roof, door mirrors and matching bonnet stripes. The paintwork is exceptional throughout with a uniform deep shine complemented by the single white coach line and S Works factory decals on the rear wings and chrome John Cooper signature badges to the bottom of each door.
Outstanding chrome all around, perfect scratch-free tinted original glass, Wipac Quadoptic headlights and alloy Le Mans racing fuel filler cap... Gorgeous
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
Filling the extended John Cooper LE wheel arches are the original 13 x 6-inch Sportpack Minilite-style alloy wheels with correct John Cooper centre caps. Fitted with the original all-matching 175/50 R13 Dunlop SP Sport 3000 tyres, the space-saver spare has never been fitted.
Brakes - Servo-assisted, diagonal split dual circuit system with front discs and drum rears.
Handling is razor sharp as you would expect from a Mini Cooper, rack & pinion steering, and independent suspension with Telescopic hydraulic Koni dampers.
Engine & Transmission
The Mini John Cooper LE S Works was a limited run of just 25 cars with performance upgrades. Exclusively offered by John Cooper Garages from new, which boosted power to 90 bhp with a reworked engine, large valve fully ported 5-stage cylinder head polished and gas-flowed, 1.5 roller rockers, 4-speed gearbox, the compression ratio is raised to 10.1:1, fuel pressure has been increased, and the injection and throttle bodies matched to suit.
Fitted with the 1275cc, 4-cylinder, transverse OHV engine with electronic twin-point fuel injection.
The engine and engine bay are fully detailed and display all of the original factory stickers and visual aid plastic information cards which are all too often discarded.
Super responsive handling, slick 4-speed gearbox, magical sound from the roller rockers and deep tone from the twin upswept exhaust system... Pure John Cooper Mini magic
Summary
Supplied new by John Cooper Garages, East Preston, West Sussex on 23rd December 1999 and sold to Summerfield Garage, Worcester Road, Kidderminster.
The Mini was kept unregistered and on display in a motor museum until sold to its first private keeper, Mr Elnor of Checkley, Nantwich, on 12th February 2011. With just two former keepers, whom we have met with both of them, they simply cherished this gorgeous rare example.
