Honda telescopic front forks front forks, twin hydraulic dampers to the rear, and single chrome exhaust.
Deep cushion single seat with Honda branding and white piping.
The moped chassis is constructed from two pressed-steel halves welded together down the centre-line, with pressed steel leading link fork front, and swingarm rear suspension with telescopic dampers. The under seat 3-litre petrol tank is single sided on the left of the machine. A plastic toolbox takes the position of a dummy fuel tank on the right hand side. Behind the single seat is a useful pressed steel carrier rack.
The complete moped was subject to a concours restoration and completed 2018 and has never been ridden since, simply cherished as a showpiece in the gentleman's piano room. The attention to detail is simply outstanding.
Wheels - New 19" wheels with new Mitas M-02 tyres 2.00 x 19 front and 2.25 x 19 rear and new tubes.
Brakes - Drum brakes front and rear with new shoes.
Suspension - Rear - swingarm with twin hydraulic dampers, 50mm travel. Front - telescopic forks.
Honda 4 stroke 49cc engine, output is rated as 1.8 bhp @ 5,700rpm, and carburetion served by a 14mm Keihin with a direct shutter choke operated on a simple side lever, starts and runs smoothly.
A recorded 279 is displayed on the clock and we understand this to be the original mileage.
The Honda PC50 has no footrests or kick-start, it is a proper moped with a fully effective cycling capability engaged by the operation of a lever on the right hand crankcase. When the lever is engaged in drive ‘on’ mode, the drive is taken through a simple single gear and automatic clutch.
Pretty unusual Honda only made the PC50 for two years with production finishing in 1970.
Registered new in the UK on 1st November 1971 and only 1 recorded previous keeper. Subject to a concours restoration carried out by Classic Bikes Northwest at a cost of £2244 and completed 11th April 2018.
The recorded mileage is understood to be correct as the last keeper purchased it from the original owner in Scotland and then had it fully restored. Once complete it was put on display in the gentleman's piano room where we collected it from.
The history file contains the original Honda PC50 Owner's Handbook and restoration invoice.
