Engine & Transmission
At the heart of the SLS is the world’s most powerful standard-production V8 naturally aspirated engine of its time – built by a single engineer based on the AMG “one man, one engine” principle.
AMG 6.3-litre V8 front mid-engine with exhaust headers and performance- optimised intake tract: displacement of 6208cc, output of 563 BHP and peak torque of 650 Nm.
Dry sump lubrication without oil sump, AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed double-clutch transmission in transaxle arrangement, Torque tube with carbon-fibre driveshaft.
Fitted with the BRABUS Performance Kit B63 S - The AMG's 6.2 is boosted from 563 BHP (420 kW) to 611PS (448 kW). The result is thanks to a performance kit consisting of newly calibrated engine electronics with special BRABUS mapping for ignition and injection, and the BRABUS high-performance Titanium valve controlled exhaust system. Valve controlled (loud/quiet), electronically adjustable per push button from the center console, four slanted exhaust tips and weighing in 40 percent lighter than the standard system.

Summary
The Mercedes SLS was the first car to be developed entirely in house by AMG from the ground up. The SLS gave the AMG designers and engineers a blank piece of paper to create a supercar without restrictions, 3 years and 1 month later the SLS was born...
This SLS we have today has been subtly enhanced via the BRABUS tuning program. Factory upgrades include a BRABUS Performance Kit, BRABUS Titanium exhaust system with quad tips, and BRABUS clear coat carbon fibre rear spoiler all costing circa £15k.
