A complete body off bare metal restoration was completed by Carn Bosavern Garage, Penzance in October 2021. The body was stripped back to bare metal and coated in Jenolite, etch primed, primed then finished in the original colour of Sebring White. The uniformed paintwork gives a deep gloss shine and is flawless throughout. A photographic log of the restoration is included in the history file showing the attention to detail that went into the preparation of this lovely TR before the final paint being applied. All panels and wings are remarkable, the panel fit excellent and door closures as per it left the factory. All brightwork has a mirror finish throughout much of it being replated or replaced with quality items. The underside of the car is equally as impressive as the top. The chassis was blasted, primed and painted in 2 pack chassis black, new floors, and factory finish paintwork throughout all protected by a thin coat of clear underseal. The quality red canvas hood, full tonneau cover and hood envelope all new. A new fixed chrome luggage rack, wind deflectors and genuine Lucas driving lights with covers, complements the look of this show standard TR.
The 72 spoke optional chrome wire wheels and chrome 2 ear spinners are in fantastic blemish free order. Sitting on all matching premium Pirelli Cinturato P1 195 / 65 R15 tyres and are as new having covered barely 500 miles..
During the extensive restoration the Girling hydraulic brake system was completely overhauled with new front discs, calipers, pads, brake lines and hoses, rear drums and shoes, needless to say the braking power is excellent. The all new steering is precise and responsive, fully rebuilt suspension, upgraded polybushes and coil springs, she handles beautifully.
Four cylinder overhead valve power unit of 1991cc. Producing 100 BHP at 5000 RPM, Twin S.U. H6 carburettors with K&N air filters, 4-speed manual gearbox with optional overdrive.
The engine, gearbox and overdrive were all fully overhauled during the full restoration completed October 2021 and has covered a mere 437 miles since. Needless to say she responds superbly, pulls strong in every gear, perfect oil pressure and idles faultlessly hot or cold. Overdrive in 3rd and 4th gears which operates in and out very smoothly, the gearbox and clutch are light and precise, she sounds glorious through the full stainless steel exhaust system... Simply Magical
