Norton patented Isolastic construction gives that vibration-free silky smooth ride with the excitement of a high-performance big twin. Roadholder front forks with progressive 2-way damping, Girling twin shocks with exposed chrome rings to the rear, twin downswept exhausts with upswept reversed cone megaphones, 12v electrics with brand new battery, cushioned single seat unit with red pipe detail, Alton electric start conversion, centre stand and side stand, simple switch clusters, rev counter and speedometer, twin rear view mirrors.
Exterior
Arguably the greatest of the great British twins. This Norton Commando 850 cafe racer style is a genuine UK model finished with a polished alloy production racer fuel tank, drop handlebars and Norman Hyde Rearsets.
Powder coated frame, all aluminium parts highly polished and beautiful chrome, many original parts and stunning throughout.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
Quality 6000 series aluminium Buchanan's Sun Rims, stainless steel spokes laced to the original aluminium hubs 2.15 x 18 front and 2.75 x18 rear all in superb order sitting on excellent premium tyres which have plenty of tread remaining and excellent rubber condition.
The Roadholder forks have been fully overhauled with polished legs. The Norton-Lockheed front disc brake with 10.7 inch solid disc operates perfectly teamed up with the cable operated rear drum brake.
Engine & Transmission
The Commando 850 Engine - Recognisable by its through bolted cylinder block.
This Commando benefits from its original matching numbers 828cc engine that has been fully overhauled and covered 350 miles since, Pazon Electronic Ignition, new wiring harness, charging regulator, single Wassell carburettor, downswept pipes with full flow reverse cone exhausts. The engine is detailed to show standard.
The kick start has been removed and an Alton Electric Start system installed at a cost of over £2,000. She starts instantly on the button hot or cold and idles beautifully.
On the road she sounds amazing, pulls easily, the 4-speed gearbox and clutch operate with ease... Simply a joy to ride.
Summary
Supplied new and registered in the UK on 1st January 1973. This matching numbers Norton 850 Commando is one not to be missed. Fully restored and ready to enjoy.
The history file contains receipts for maintenance and parts over the years. We have twin chrome period mirrors not shown in the pictures and spare twin Wassell Carburettors.
