Interior & Equipment
The interior of this Beetle has been fully restored to the highest standards which includes; new cream leatherette seat covers with contrasting piping fitted to the original restored seats with matching door panels, new headlining and full carpet set with sound deadening and insulation. The factory original Bakelite steering wheel, and Semi Circle Horn Ring are in fantastic order as are all the original controls and gauges which work perfectly as they were intended. A truly fantastic interior which complements this lovely car.
Exterior
Finished in the original factory Java Green (Code: L-518) the paintwork was fully refreshed 6 years ago with the addition of a cream cove. The paintwork is excellent throughout having a deep shine and no issues. During this time new floors and heater channels were installed. All brightwork is either new or has been refurbished. As you can see from the pictures the panel fit is excellent, the glass and quarter lights are in perfect order as are all driving lights. Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
Five pristine pressed steel wheels painted in original pearl white, ventilating slots for aided brake cooling and are shod in matching period looking brand new Maxxis tyres. The chrome hubcaps are factory originals and in excellent order. Brakes are all new and in excellent order with a good feel to the pedal, exactly as they should be!
Engine & Transmission
The matching numbers air-cooled rear mounted engine sits in a beautifully clean and detailed engine bay, only minor work has been done here such as new tinwear the rest is all original. The unmistakable sound of the VW Beetle is legendary and this particular car is no exception. The engine pulls strongly with no hesitation, it cruises effortlessly and idles as it should… Wonderful. The fully synchronized 4-speed gearbox operates perfectly; it’s light in operation and selects each gear precisely, the clutch is light and positive. Its just great fun to drive. The correct 6v electrical system remains original and unchanged.
Summary
This desirable original UK RHD 1966 model year Beetle was bought new from W.H. Jervis & Sons VW Garage, Hanley, Stoke-On-Trent by a Mr J. A. Rawlinson on 1st May 1967 and has remained in his care in Stoke-On-Trent until he passed away in 2003. The car was then registered to his daughter who cherished it further until 2012. Since this time the car has been completely restored to an excellent standard and is now ready to enjoy for many years to come.
This cherished family vehicle that has only covered 60,720 miles in 51 years with 2 previous family owners is not to be missed they do not come along like this very often.
