The original interior was subject to an extensive re-trim by respected Tom Hampton at a cost of £7000.
Works included a complete and extensive re-trim all in the original biscuit colourway, original seats retrimmed in fine biscuit leather with centre section perforations, new deep pile carpets throughout with matching over mats, new sound deadening layer and underfelt, matching door cards with flawless chrome trim, leather centre armrest and cubby box with discrete USB ports, Mota-Lita wood rim steering wheel, all unmarked.
Fully retrimmed dashboard, all interior lighting, crystal clear Smiths gauges, switches, analogue clock and electrics work as they should. A wood rim Mota-Lita steering wheel with the original Jaguar boss completes this stunning interior.
The stripped body was prepared and painted by Jules Body Craft, Coven Staffordshire at a cost of £35,000. A full photographic restoration consisting of circa 500 images of the car before, during and after restoration was carried out over a five-year period and completed in the summer of 2020.
Painted in the original Jaguar colour Signal Red. The paint finish and bodywork are outstanding, brand new bonnet fitted, factory panel fit, shut lines and gaps. The underside is completely painted to factory specification, fully detailed and unmarked as you can see from the pictures.
All bright work either replated or replaced using quality items throughout, original Lucas lighting all round with the exception of better performing new halogen headlights. Triplex front screen and crystal clear glass all round.
A new black mohair hood has been fitted with all new framework. The hood opens and closes with ease and fits perfectly. A brand new mohair hood envelope and full tonneau cover completes this exceptional roadster... Wonderful
The 5 chrome 72 spoke stainless wire wheels and continental style spinners are flawless costing £3000. All matching period quality Avon Turbo Speed GR28 tyres 205/70 R15 are excellent all round.
The brake system has been completely replaced giving the car excellent braking feel and capability. Servo-assisted disc brakes all round, three-piston calipers at the front and two-piston for the rear.
The fully detailed engine and engine bay houses the incredible 5343cc V12 consisting of aluminium 12-valve cylinder heads and an aluminium engine block with a forged steel crankshaft, four Zenith-Stromberg 175 CD-2 carburettors and electronic ignition. Launched in 1971, boasting the world’s only mass-production V-12, producing 266 bhp - enough to propel the roadster to 146 mph with a 0–60 mph time of 6.4 seconds.
The engine and 4-speed manual gearbox we're entrusted to David Marks, Nottingham for a full and extensive rebuild costing in excess of £12,000. The fully documented photographic rebuild was completed and has covered a mere 7k miles since.
A full comprehensive major service costing £3300 has just been completed by CBR Restorations, Staffordshire, carbs and timing set needless to say she runs perfectly hot or cold and sounds tremendous through the full stainless steel manifold and exhaust system costing £6000. The clutch is light and progressive in operation, gear change positive and precise... A joy to drive and what a soundtrack
Here we have a rather special UK home market, matching numbers Jaguar E-type V12 Roadster with a documented 35k miles from new and only 6 previous owners. Dispatched to Henleys, London 23rd April 1974 and registered new 9th September 1974 to Mr Donald Scott, Caledonian Road, London N7.
The extensive 5 year devoted restoration was entrusted to P&K Thornton Restorations, Nottingham with the instruction to 'create the best V12 on the planet'. Completed July 2020 the100 point restoration has been fully documented with a full photographic record of circa 500 images of the car before, during and after restoration at a cost of circa £45,000. Extra works carried out by noted appointed specialists include a full body and chassis restoration, completely restored original interior, full engine and gearbox rebuild, new wiring loom, power steering, disc brake system, new hood etc. totalling a further £63,000 bringing the grand total restoration cost in excess of £110k.
Since restoration, this stunning roadster has been driven just over 7,000 miles and recently completed a trip to the 2022 Le Mans Classic. Today this beautiful Roadster presents in exceptional order throughout, including the detailed underside.
The comprehensive history file documents all past owners one of which owned the car for 31 years. Servicing and maintenance invoices dating back to the early 1980's documenting the very low original 35,427 miles. Jaguar Series 3 V12 E-type operation, maintenance and servicing handbook, official Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and full resume detailing costs of the restoration, specialist restorers appointed and invoices by the previous custodian.
A Fresh 12 month MOT will be issued upon sale and of course, this V12 Roadster is HPI Clear.
This is an outstanding example of the mighty Jaguar Series 3. Unarguably one of the most elegant sports cars of all time and considered by many to be the best driving model not to mention the most comfortable.
