The original Morgan Super Sport Bucket seats retrimmed in ruby red leather are in wonderful shape with no adverse seat base or bolster wear. Leather door cards, dash top, door tops, and centre console remain in superb order as do the black carpets piped in red and finished off with chrome Morgan sill plates. The great looking Burr Walnut dashboard is in excellent order with only minor age related patina, not only does it look and feel good all interior gauges, switches and electrics work as they should. The Mota-Lita leather steering wheel with Morgan boss compliments this striking interior...
Fully restored by Melvyn Rutter Morgan Agents to show standard in 1990 at a cost of £22,700, the build is meticulously documented by the hour in the history file.
Finished in original factory Royal Ivory the paintwork has a lovely uniformed finish throughout, the chassis and wood frame all excellent. All alloy panels are perfectly straight, excellent door closures and gaps. Original Lucas lights all round are in exceptional order with uniformed colour and a silky polished finish, all brightwork is in exceptional order having been replaced with original parts or being rechromed, the optional chrome rear luggage rack as new.
The black vinyl hood piped in maroon with matching aluminium frame sidescreens, full tonneau and spare wheel cover all in excellent order throughout... Wonderful
The 5 original steel pressed vented wheels have been fully stove enamel refurbished, the chrome hubcaps are in fantastic order. Sitting on all matching excellent Firestone F-560 165 R15 Radial Tyres.
The brake system had been completely overhauled. Disc brakes to the front with Mintex M171 pads, drums on the rear with Ferodo VG95 linings. She pulls up strongly with ease and perfectly straight.
Driving is precise having been fitted with a Gemma Steering Box and Spax shock absorbers all round.
The original Ford 1600 Crossflow engine has been completely stripped and rebuilt by Morgan specialists Colin Musgrove and Associates. The extensive engine rebuild and gearbox totals in excess of £6000 and is fully documented in the history file. Works include rebuilt polish and ported Maxiflow head, all new bearings, pistons, competition distributor, clutch, twin 40 Webber carburettors, Kent 234 camshaft, etc. the list goes on and on. Paired to a Ford Type 9 5-speed gearbox supplied and fitted by Four Elms Morgan and all set up on a rolling road producing 137.4 Bhp at 6200 Rpm.
On the road driving is a joy, she starts easily hot or cold, gear selection slick and smooth you instantly feel your driving something very special.
Dispatched from the Morgan factory 31st December 1978 and registered new to Mr Parker-Williams, Farham, Hampshire 1st August 1979.
The history file is packed with hundreds of invoices and receipts, 20 plus past MOT certificates the oldest dated November 1993, Morgan build record, past expired tax discs, past owner details, etc. etc.
A full nut and bolt bare bones restoration was undertaken by Melvyn Rutter Morgan specialist September 1989 and completed December 1990 to the highest standards and the car still presents beautifully today having been dry stored and unused for many years. The history file documents every hour of the restoration and associated invoices totalling in excess of £27,000.
The love and passion behind this outstanding 4/4 is exceptional. This Morgan 4/4 has been in the hands of MOG Club owners for many years.
