The original interior is in fine order throughout. The original basket weave vinyl seats show very minor signs of patina as to be expected being 45 years old. A new deep pile twist carpet was fitted throughout during the restoration but instructions were given to retain as much originality as possible with the rest of the interior. All original door cars, walnut veneer fascia dash, puddle lights, working clock, gauges and switch gear operate as they were intended. The original three-spoke alloy steering wheel with padded boss is in exceptional condition... Beautiful originality.
Finished in factory Royal Blue (Code 56). The bodywork was subject to an extensive bare metal restoration by Willow Triumph Limited, Heighington, Darlington. It's clear to see the paintwork is flawless today which is testament to the quality of workmanship carried out in 2016. The panel fit throughout is factory perfect. Most body fittings, trims, lights, bumpers, door handles etc were all refurbished, replaced or re-chromed during the restoration and are still in perfect order today. The navy blue mohair hood and frame assembly was replaced during the restoration and looks as if its never been used. It was decided to keep the coachline and stainless steel sill covers off as the car looked so sharp.
The underside of the car is equally as impressive as the top, all fully detail painted, new steering rack, suspension, drive shafts etc plus all structural parts painted or powder coated to perfection.
This is one of the finest restorations we have seen, the attention to detail second to none. The history file contains many pictures of the car before, during and after restoration... Simply amazing and one of the best.
The original alloy wheels have been replaced with 15" Minilite style wheels with diamond polished rims and are unmarked. Sitting on new all matching Goodyear Efficient Grip 185/65 R15 tyres.
During the extensive restoration the servo assisted hydraulic brakes were all renewed with new front discs, brake calipers, rear drums, and brake lines needless to say the braking power is excellent. Steering is precise and responsive, handling superb courtesy of all new suspension.
The fully detailed engine and engine bay houses the incredible bespoke 2997cc Litre V8 which has been subject to an extensive photographic and documented rebuild using all new parts, completed during the restoration of 2016 and has covered a mere 1115 miles since.
146 BHP, 120MPH, overhead camshafts, twin Stromberg carburettors... "Outstanding combination of compactness, smoothness and flexibility in accelerating"
The Borg Warner type 35 3-speed automatic gearbox and rear axle unit all striped, serviced and fully rebuilt. Needless to say she runs and starts perfectly hot or cold and sounds tremendous through the full stainless steel exhaust system... A joy to drive and what a unique sound track.
An exceptionally restored Triumph Stag MKII. Spending all of its life prior to restoration in Jersey, indicated mileage was promised to be correct, minimal surface rust and a sheltered life thus the perfect Stag to restore.
The restoration was completed July 2016 by Willow Triumph Ltd, Heighington, Darlington and a mere 1100 miles covered since completion. The history file contains the original restoration worksheets plus many images of the car before, during and after restoration showing the incredible attention to detail that has gone into completing this stunning example.
The previous owner instructed Willow Triumph to carry out a no expense spared restoration of the complete car but retain as much originality as possible and to refinish / restore original parts where possible rather than replace with aftermarket products. The final result can only be described as outstanding.
A Fresh 12 month MOT will be issued up on sale and of course the Stag is HPI Clear.
