The vertical pleat and perforated black leather seats present beautifully, reclining with headrests and in outstanding condition, with no adverse wear and firm seat cushions. Gorgeous deep-pile black carpets throughout with extra MG rubber over mats.
Fine details include a Mota-Lita wood-rim 3-spoke steering wheel with MG centre boss, red key battery isolator, MG embossed stainless steel sill plates, retrimmed vinyl door cards with twin red piping detail, Securon inertia-reel seatbelts, CCS Vintage 100 Spindle DAB Radio and CCS 6" individual loudspeaker.
The classic crackle-finish dash fascia presents like new and has a perfect padded dash top.
All original SMITHS clocks and gauges work perfectly and have crystal clear glass. Switches work as they were intended, as does the SMITHS heater... A simply stunning and beautifully presented cabin.
Extensively restored in the late 1990's. A new British Motor Heritage Bodyshell has been used and painted in Tartan red.
The paint finish and bodywork today are simply gorgeous throughout, with perfect shut lines and gaps. The underside is solid throughout, professionally clear undersealed during restoration and now treated with a fresh coat of Lanoguard.
'Originality' was key during the restoration; original or replacement Lucas lights with the exception of better performing Wipac halogen headlights, original brightwork replated or replaced with quality items, new vinyl hood with crystal clear screens and new hood frame, period hood envelope and a new full tonneau cover... A show standard exterior throughout.
WHEELS - The five 60-spoke chrome 14" wire wheels and chrome 2 ear spinners are in fantastic blemish free order, sitting on excellent, all matching Falken 165/80 R14 tyres.
BRAKES - Recent new front brake calipers, discs and pads, rear wheel cylinders and brake shoes, needless to say, the braking power is excellent pulling up straight and true.
HANDLING - Fully rebuilt suspension, new front coil springs and lever arm shock absorbers, new rear lever arm shock absorbers, new anti roll bar bushes etc, driving is precise and responsive... She handles beautifully.
Fitted with a new Ivor Searle correct 5-bearing engine in October 2021 by our team. The 1.8-litre B-Series o.h.v. straight four-cylinder 1798cc and has covered a mere 4840 miles since and has been religiously serviced every year since.
Further upgrades include a Powerlite 50a upgraded alternator, new Yuasa battery, and Lumenition Magnetronic System.
Needless to say, she responds superbly, the original 4-speed gearbox selects perfectly and pulls strongly in every gear, light and precise clutch, idles faultlessly, and starts easily from hot or cold.
Overdrive in 3rd and 4th gears, which operates in and out with ease.
She sounds magical through the stainless steel exhaust system... Such fun to drive.
Just 2 Previous keepers in the last 32 years...
Registered new on 11th October 1971 by official British Leyland dealers Sprinzels Of Lancaster Mews, London W2, registration number JBY 47K which still remains today and sold locally to Ms Carmine Silvestri, Courtnell Street, London W2. It's understood that JBY 47K has had just 5 long term previous keepers.
In excess of £15,000 has been lavished on maintenance, scheduled servicing, improvements and upgrades etc over the past 5 years, she wants for nothing. The history file supports many invoices and receipts for the extensive work carried out, some dating back to new, 25 past MOT certificates, original MGB owner's handbook, original British Leyland Passport To Service booklet with several early service stamps, pictures dated 1998/99 when the extensive restoration was completed and a batch of past road tax discs, etc.
Last MOT completed 12th May 2026 with no advisories. HPi clear with certificate included.
Taxation Class: Historic Vehicle - Zero road tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt.
With just two owners since the restoration was completed in the late 1990's, this MGB has covered a mere 9,500 miles since with the new engine having only covered 4840 miles.
This is a superb, show-standard example of the mighty MKIII MGB Roadster and presented in near perfect condition, ready to be enjoyed and proudly displayed at shows. A fantastic opportunity to acquire a truly special example.
