Fully refurbished in soft and supple quality navy leather with a pleated design along with tailor made immaculate matching leather door cards. The original wooden dashboard has been fully refurbished to an exceptional standard. Contrasting deep pile grey carpets bound in navy have been fitted throughout. The contrasting grey convertible head lining is taught and in exceptional order. The original chrome ring Smiths instrument gauges all work perfectly and look stunning complimented by the original banjo bakelite steering wheel. All original electrical switches work as they were intended as does the heater. Simply beautiful…
Chassis number 22172 finished in Porcelain White stunning paintwork. The complete body and chassis have been bare metal stripped, new hardwood timber rails to structure of car, new sills, new rear wings etc etc lead loaded to shape and sanded/painted to perfection giving a uniformed shine. It's clear to see from the pictures that it's still stunning today which is testament to the outstanding quality of workmanship carried out 25 years ago. The panel fit and door closures excellent throughout. This history file contains 70 plus photographs of the car before, during and after restoration.
All body fittings, trims, lights, bumpers, door handles etc. all refurbished or re-chromed throughout including the radiator. The quality contrasting grey hood and full tonneau cover were all replaced during the restoration and still look stunning today. The original spare wheel cover is in outstanding condition. The semaphores operate swiftly and are in excellent original order.
The underside of the car is equally as impressive, works included stripped and repainted chassis, suspension overhaul, new fuel tank, new floors etc the list goes on and on nothing missed.
The original steel wheels have been fully refurbished, the original unrestored chrome hubcaps with the famous Alvis branding are in fantastic order. Sitting on all matching excellent Camac CD-110 6.00 - 16C tyres. The brake system has been completely overhauled and balanced, she pulls up with ease and perfectly straight.
The original 1892cc in-line four cylinder engine with single SU type H4 carburettor was fully rebuilt in 2005 including new camshaft, pistons, radiator and heater recored etc. and converted to run on unleaded fuel. The engine completely stripped cleaned and repainted, aluminium components polished. The original 4-speed manual all synchromesh gearbox overhauled.
She starts quickly hot or cold, gear selects gears with ease and the clutch is light and progressive. On the road she pulls with ease and is a joy to drive.
The engine bay presents beautifully, the original Alvis Limited identification plates all in place, original car jack, wheel brace and starting handle.
This original home market RHD Alvis TA 14 was registered 8th July 1948 and still displays the original registration number. She's a well travelled car residing in Ireland and in the USA. The previous owner of 20 years describes her as "A car for drivers'" with many Alvis Owners Club tours completed in the USA, Switzerland and Fougeres rallies.
Rebuilt by TA 14 expert Colin Newby in 1996 and features in the 50th Anniversary book on this model. A full ground restoration was undertaken with 70 plus supporting photographs of the car before during and after restoration, full engine rebuild in 2005.
The history file contains details of the extensive restoration, the green continuation log book dated 11th January 1964, past owner information etc.
A full extensive recommissioning has just been completed as she has been stored in a private car collection over the past 4 years. Shes now ready to go and of course this TA 14 is HPI Clear.
This is an excellent opportunity to own a beautiful TA 14, an older restoration but still presents beautifully. A total of 3313 cars were produced, 1775 Mulliners Sports Saloons and 1538 Drophead Coupes by Tickford and Carbodies. The Alvis Fourteen also known as TA 14 was the first car to be produced by major defence contractor Alvis Cars after World War II. The entire car factory had been destroyed on the night of Thursday 14 November 1940. Announced in November 1946 it was made until 1950 when its postwar 1900 cc engine was replaced by the 2993 cc 26.25 HP Alvis Three Litre TA 21.
