The original interior can only be described as excellent, the sumptuous Recaro Raven Leather with burgundy piping shows no signs of wear, seat bolsters are perfect and leather soft and supple. The dash is perfect with no signs of cracking, every instrument, interior lighting, 2 stage heater fan and analogue quartz clock all work perfectly. The deep pile original carpets and original Ford mats are all excellent. The steering wheel is a genuine Ford RS leather 4 spoke wheel and is in excellent condition. The original parcel shelf is perfect it has never been cut for speakers and is perfectly straight, the door panels, black perforated headlining etc. all excellent and original. An period aftermarket stereo system has been fitted but the car comes with the original fit Ford stereo and facia panel should you wish to put it back to standard. The factory fit slide/tilt sunroof operates perfectly and is as new.
Full bare metal repaint 11 years ago in correct Ford Brooklands Green Metallic (Code T7) the paintwork has a mirror like finish showing no signs of micro blistering, cracks, rust or any other imperfections which is testament to how well the car was prepared prior to painting, original 280 decals were also refitted. The bumpers, original tinted glass, lights and unmarked boot spoiler etc. are all in excellent order. The slide/tilt sunroof operates with ease, perfect seals and fits as per factory. All gaps and panel fit are as she left the factory, the underside is exceptionally clean and lightly waxoiled in key areas not caked on... Lovely
This Capri is fitted with the factory 7-spoke alloy wheels in flawless condition and with correct Ford badged centre caps. Brand new Pirelli Cinturato P1 195/50/15 tyres have been fitted. The hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front discs stop the car quickly and perfectly straight.
The engine is in excellent order with all original Ford hoses and a new square top battery in keeping with originality. Starts on the first turn of the key and that unmistakable fantastic sound is amplified through the full Magnex stainless steel exhaust system. The gearbox operates with ease and is very smooth in every gear. With 158 BHP capable of 130mph and 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds these Capri's are exciting to drive. The engine bay is exceptionally clean. A quite expensive recommissioning of the engine has just been completed, all work carried out detailed on the final invoice in the history file... Magical
This 280 Brooklands was first registered in the UK by Ford main agents Bristol Street Motors Birmingham on 8th October 1987 and has had only 3 former keepers from new, car build number 757. The history file dates back 15 years and contains many past MOT's, service/repair/parts invoices, receipts etc. Sadly the first owner Mr Chambers passed away and any history prior to this was not recoverable but we believe the low mileage to be correct from the second owner who traced back its history to a local garage who serviced the gentleman's cars. There's a letter in the history file dated 3rd December 2004 from the deceased Solicitors confirming change of ownership from the deceased estate. The original document wallet with operating hand book, radio handbook, original Ford 280 sales brochure and old magazines featuring the 280 Capri there's even a boxed Corgi die-cast model that sat on the dashboard when the car was entered into many car shows.
This 280 was once from my own private collection, I owned it for almost 5 years and bought it from an associate who owned it for 8 years prior to that hence I could not resist when he finally agreed to sell it to me in 2013. I sold the car to a collector in April 2018 and was delighted to be offered the opportunity to buy it back after the current owner through personal circumstances decided to reduce his car collection. The car has not done a single mile in his ownership just simply stored away with his other Ford exotica.
After being in storage for the last 5 years and covering a mere 300 miles during that time I instructed a full bumper to bumper no expense spared recommissioning by a renowned Ford Specialist to ensure this this cherished 280 was in tip top condition with nothing missed. There is a lengthy invoice in the history file detailing all of the work carried out, nothing was missed.

The Capri 280 "Brooklands". The last type of Capri available. After nearly twenty years of production Ford produced a final limited edition run of cars that were designed to mark the passing of the Capri with style. Originally badged as the "Capri 500" as 500 were planned for the production the name was changed to "Capri 280" and the production ran to 1038 examples. Whether it was a tribute to Henry Fords "you can have any colour you like as long as it is black" the Capri 280 was only available in Brooklands green - and the name of the paint has stuck with the car - most often refered to as a Brooklands than a Capri 280. Essentially this Capri was identical to the 2.8 Injection Special but had larger 15 inch ally wheels (of the same design as the 2.8i) and the interior was trimmed in full raven black leather with red piping for the seats. Destined to be an instant classic all these cars sold quickly and still change hands for more money than other Capris. On 19 December 1986 the last Capri was finished, the last of over 1.92 million cars that you always promised yourself.
